The Know Your Space 2012 study is the second installment of a joint production of Kantar Retail and CROSSMARK. The first iteration of the study, The Annual Retail Space Allocation Study, was published in 2010 and used as a basis to establish key trends. The study should further enhance the understanding of suppliers, retailers, store designers, and other stakeholders engaged in understanding the details of retail merchandising, shopper marketing, and the basic approaches used by major retailers to manage their own retail space.

Kantar Retail is pleased to present the seventh annual FoodservicElite® study, in which foodservice operators benchmark manufacturers and we uncover key trends and insights as well as top-performing behaviors.

Optimization alone will not sustain manufacturers’ success. CPG companies must consider how they can reach shoppers along the Path to Purchase™: they must influence the shopper as she chooses the outlet, shops the store, and ultimately selects which products to buy.

For many years, Kantar Retail & CROSSMARK's clients have requested more information about retail store space, current allocations of merchandise, and the direction of store design. With this study, we recognize the need for an independent, large-scale examination of retailing space that is repeated over time.
