The Jeronimo Martins-owned Polish discounter Biedronka has introduced traditional counters selling fresh meat and cheeses and plans to have this particular commercial concept expanded to 70 locations by year-end. The concept was trialled in few stores four years ago, but due to an ambivalent outcome the project was abandoned in most outlets. Recently, the retailer has relaunched the idea in carefully selected stores and has made available a number of counters and product assortments depending on the size of facility and local shopper needs.
