Walmex reported Q4 FY 2019 and full year FY 2019 results for the period ended December 31, 2019.

Q4 2019 Performance:

  • Net sales for the three-month period increased 4.7% to 184.3 billion pesos as compared with 176.1 billion pesos. 
  • Operating income increased 3.7% to 16.2 billion pesos (8.7% of total sales) as compared with 15.6 billion pesos (8.8% of total sales) during the prior year. 
  • Net income totaled 11.2 billion pesos, a 4.5% decrease as compared with 11.7 billion pesos in Q4 2018. 

 FY 2019 Performance:

  • Net sales for the year increased 4.8% to 641.8 billion pesos as compared with 612.1 billion pesos.
  • Operating income increased 9.8% to 54 billion pesos (8.3% of total sales) as compared with 49.1 billion pesos (8% of total sales) during the prior year.
  • Net income totaled 37.8 billion pesos, a 3.1% increase as compared with 36.7 billion pesos in Q4 2018.

During the fourth quarter, Walmex opened 72 stores in Mexico that includes 10 Bodega Aurreras, 39 Bodega Aurrera Expresses, 20 Mi Bodegas and 3 Walmart’s. As of Dec 31, 2019, Walmex operated 2,571 stores in Mexico.
