Germany’s Rewe Group has opened over 200 temporary collection points for online grocery orders as it scrambles to meet surging demand for its grocery ecommerce offer during the coronavirus crisis. As of end-April, Rewe expects to have more than 700 locations in operations, both short-term and permanent and has accelerated the pre-planned installation of pick-up points that allow for zero-contact collection of grocery baskets ordered online. The pop-up locations are expected to remain in place for at least six months.
