Carrefour Brazil, in partnership with Rappi, a Colombian delivery start-up, plans to install dark store areas exclusively dedicated to eCommerce inside hypermarkets. The retailer intends to open about 15 inserts, the first of which will open in April. The areas will be exclusively operated by Carrefour or Rappi staff and will not permit entry to customers. The retailer targets to open four inserts in Sao Paulo with remaining areas to be opened in eight other cities. The Carrefour-Rappi partnership is intended to optimise last-mile delivery solutions.
