Buying groups have reshaped the European grocery landscape by elevating line reviews to an international level, moving trade funds from national budgets to international budgets, and disrupting price and promotional plans for 2015 and 2016. Legal, financial and commercial teams have been taken by surprise largely because they have not sat down together in an educational setting to discuss what is happening, and what to do about it. In this workshop participants will have the opportunity to share ideas in a noncompetitive environment, following an exercise-driven agenda using hypothetical scenarios, case studies and planning tools.
Key questions answered include:
- Who are the buying groups and what do they do/not do?
- What is the new financial model and where are the financial levers that can help us adapt our approach in negotiations? Which elements remain national and which ones are international?
- What is best practice in annual planning and line review with buying group “buyers”?
