Amazon has announced that its second annual Prime Day exceeded Prime Day 2015’s record-breaking results. This year’s customer orders surpassed Prime Day 2015 by more than 60% globally and more than 50% in the U.S. Additional details include:

  • Prime Day 2016 was Amazon’s largest device sales day ever worldwide and a record event for each Amazon device category including Fire TV, Fire tablets, Kindle e-readers, and Alexa-enabled devices. The Fire TV Stick was Amazon’s most popular device globally. In the U.S., Amazon devices were up over 3x compared to Prime Day 2015 and Amazon Echo orders were up over 2.5x compared to last year’s event. Members claimed an average of one Alexa-exclusive deal per second during Prime Day using their voice.
  • Prime member purchases via the Amazon app outdid Prime Day 2015 mobile app orders by more than 2x.
  • More than a million members used the Amazon app for the first time on Prime Day to shop and to watch-a-deal.
  • Small businesses and sellers participating in Amazon’s Prime Day saw orders nearly triple year-over-year.

Amazon said it plans to host Prime Day again in the future.
