Alibaba is introducing new selling concepts for the 6.18 shopping event, including a ‘Daily Deals’ option that allows manufacturers to sell direct from factories with real-time insights and technical support provided by the etailer. Manufacturers have prepared 100,000 promotional items as part of the initiative as Taobao and Tmall looks to offer consumers in lower-tier cities and provinces more value-focused goods throughout the event. It plans to use channels like its flash sales site Juhuasuan and live-streaming portals to extend brand reach to these segments.
